THE TRUE NATURE OF SIN

What is sin?

Sin is any act that renders us vulnerable to the harm of the devil.

Acts such as these are always strongly disapproved by God, primarily because He knows the true nature of sin , what it looks like, what it smells like and what it does to us.

So, you may wonder: "So sin even has a true nature?".

Yes!

Of course, it does.

A spiritual one at that.

The spiritual nature of sin can be likened to things that you don't even want to imagine.

Things that are filthy, decaying and putrid.

Things that are life sapping, enslaving, tormenting and bounding.

What do I mean by this?

If you've read my previous post, you will meet the paragraph where I wrote in bold letters, these same words:

THE DEVIL HATES YOU AND WANTS YOU FINISHED.

(If I am correct)

This statement is true and will always be true.

There is a verse in the Bible that says:

"For the enemy has come to 'steal, to 'kill' and to 'destroy''.

Now, that 's a clear warning up there.

One that will make you be on guard for the bad guy, right?

But the funny thing happens:

The bad guy won't make it obvious at all that he is the bad guy.

In fact, he will take you unawares starting from the things you like.

Things that do not please God but you still like them and feel a desire to participate in them.

He lures you in, like a baby who is cajoled with a chocolate candy.

This is what temptation looks like.

It is going to look sweet, fun, enticing and appealing.

Your head will be filled by him, with all you stand to gain if you yield.

If you yield, that is when you have committed sin.

What happens now?

The devil traps you in , into the other side that he did not want you to see.

He did not want you to see this other side because he knows that if you did, you won't yield.

What is on the other side of the chocolate candy (temptation)?

The consequences of sin.

What are the consequences of sin?

Darkness, sorrow, fear, pain, confusion, distress, backwardness, struggles and a lot more.

You see the proof that the devil hates you?

If he loved you , why would he want to take you down?

There are consequences for every sin and those consequences are what the devil wants you to suffer when he tempts you.

When he shows you every reason to do 'it'.

There are consequences for every sin and those consequences are what God is trying to protect you from when He tells you not to sin.

He is a holy God.

He is supreme.

He is majesty...but asking you to try and live a holy life, to be holy just as He is holy, is not Him trying to play God or trying to force rules down your throat.

He is trying to protect you because He knows the true nature of sin.

He knows about the darkness that the devil does not want you to see.

He knows about the confusion, the distress, the backwardness, the struggles, the sorrow, the pain...

All these are the consequences of sin and for them to go away, you have to start listening to God.

He is the one who cares about you.

He doesn't want you to get hurt.

He wrote His commandments thinking about you.

Yes, I said it!

Everything was and is for you.

For you to be in a better place, in a better state..

Happier, at peace, joyful, successful...

The true nature of sin, if we could see it (that is, if we had spiritual eyes) , we will not want to commit sin because we will know what will come if we do.

Then, why do we continue in sin?

We don't know the truth.

"My people suffer because of ignorance"

You don't know.

The devil does not want you to know.

He is going to make sure that you never know.

That is why you never 'feel' like reading the Bible.

The whole truth is in there but you have never come to feel like reading this book.

Why?

You don't want to look holy or righteous or churchy.

Look what he's done to you.

The words, 'righteous', 'holy', 'churchy' all now sound lame to you.

You want to be with the cool people, doing cool stuff until he (the devil) finally succeeds in leading you, in all of your ignorance and sin, into hell fire.

Isn't it funny?

You want to be cool but he's leading you to everlasting fire!

Very funny!

Sin condemns you when you commit it.

Why?

You did it!

When someone is speaking against your 'favorite' sin, you can't say anything because you're guilty.

When you are guilty, you hide, you run for cover because you know you are guilty.

You see what it does to you.

Your face flashes with shame any time people of God speak against it.

You can come out.

We can come out.

How?

Run! (I didn't say walk), run to God!

Tell Him to save you!

Cry if you must! It is that important!

We don't seem to get it, do we?

We don't see the big picture.

Sin is slow death.

You are slowing dying.

Until, one day, the devil may choose to make you commit suicide or make me sure you get humiliated, hurt or arrested.

Take action now!

Don't wait till tomorrow.

You don't know how much time you have left.

Go to God.

Ask Him to save you.

Ask Him to help you.

Mean what you say.

Mean it this time for your own good.

When you do this, help will come.

But you really have to desire a change.

God won't forsake you.

Remember, He is your heavenly Father.

He gave Jesus for you.

He's merciful and kind.

Just cry to Him.

Tell Him you're sorry.

Are you really sorry?

God's power is mighty to save.

He can save you.

It doesn't matter what you've done or who people say you are.

Jesus loves you.

You are His own.

He died for your sins and His blood is still interceeding on your behalf.

Plead on the blood of Jesus Christ and ask Him to save you.

He will.

Because that is who He is.

A Deliverer, A Saviour, always there whenever you need Him.

To get to know God more, cultivate the habit of reading the Bible.

You' ll get to know God more from there.

He also reveals Himself to those who believe in Him through other people, through your dreams, in prayer, in visions, trances , heavenly visitations and other kinds of celestial experiences.

God is real.

Jesus is real.

Heaven is real.

Hell is real.

Also, if you don't go to church, try and find a good church that is really helpful.

One that believes in you, one that doesn't judge you, helps and encourages you to be a better person.

It is really important that you connect with people who also want to know God like you too, so that you won't drop, slack or give up on your resolution.

"Iron sharpens iron".

Make sure that you are with the right company of people.

Not people who will make you go back to your old ways or even get worse than you were but people who you actually see God 's presence in their lives.

It is well with our souls in Jesus name, amen
